Rozanne Geranium Flowers

Article about Rozanne Geranium by A. Ibu

Geranium Rozanne
Geranium ‘Rozanne’ is a perennial plant with common name Rozanne Cranesbill or Perennial Geranium.  The other name is Geranium ‘Gerwat’.  This plant belongs to family Geraniaceae, Geranium.

Adult rozanne geranium plant may reach 18 inches tall, with moderate growth rate.  Young plants need more time to grow and spreading.  The plants have foliage with five lobes on circular outline, the color is slightly dark deep green which can turn into reddish brown in fall season.

Geranium rozanne flowers have irridescent blue color with pink tones and white centers.  They bloom in midsummer and repeating to fall in cook climates, or late spring to early summer in hot climates.

This plants are often used as borders, groundcover, rock garden or in containers.  They may look good with other flowers in the garden, such as roses, daylilies, asters and garden phlox.

The name ‘Rozanne’ geranium came from the name of gardeners Donald and Rozanne Waterer, who found the natural hybrid cultivar in 1989 in the Somerset, England.

By using pruning shears, you may cut side branches to control spread, cut back or pinch the top after initial bloom to promote more rebloom in cool climates.  It may not rebloom in hot climates after this cutting back.  Pruning back by half may rejuvenate the plant if flowering lags during hot weather, although this is very seldom required.

Rozanne cranesbill geranium plants will form a midsized mound of deeply-cut green leaves with bright violet flowers in early summer.  Flowering can continue to display for weeks or month in cool summers.  The plant can grow in full sun as well as in partial shade.  It needs regular watering, and more often in extreme heat.  General purpose fertilizer can be used to feed the plants.
