Chrysanthemum flowers are also known as chrysanths or
mums. They bloom in a variety of sizes
and shapes. These beautiful flowers
often used in flower arrangements. More
than that, chrysanthemum is also used in herbal
medicine.
Other than being a popular because of its beauty,
chrysanthemums have interesting meanings.
The meaning may be used to make a decision of which
flower you shoud choose before giving them to someone you wish.
Chrysanths originally came only in golden color. The name was came from the Greek prefix
‘chrys’ means golden, and ‘anthemion’ means flower. A range of colors from white, purple, yellow and red are
due to cultivation of the original ones.
The process of unfolding of chrysanthemum flower petals in
Japan is believed reflecting perfection, as the flower is considered as a
symbol of the sun. It is also symbolize
royalty and honor. Chrysanth are used
for medicine in China, that is why it is associated with life and
vitality. Chrysanthemum is also popular
as a symbol of honesty, positive and cheerfulness, although in some countries
they are used at funerals as they are symbolic of death, lamentation and grief.
Red chrysanthemum is a symbol of love. White chrysanths represent pure love and
loyalty. Yellow symbolize slighted love,
joy, optimism and love. Generally,
chrysanthemum is associated with hope, loyalty, joy, long life, optimism,
fidelity, rest and truth.
